A key aspect of Chambers.com is that the website is a core value proposition. GCs worldwide use Chambers.com to help find expert lawyers in specific niches with key experience, drawing on hundreds of thousands of pages of profile, ranking tables, data and analysis, making this less a website than a digital product in its own right, at a scale most enterprise platforms never approach.

Managing that volume of content and data meant a key aspect of this project was building and implementing a headless CMS capable of handling it at scale. Following a deep technology assessment, Plug & Play determined Contentful was the optimal headless CMS for this project.

Plug & Play have significant expertise in implementing enterprise Contentful CMS projects, and integrating Contentful with a wide range of internal APIs, and creating custom workflows and processes within Contentful itself.

Given the expansive number of pages, page types and data involved, Plug & Play needed to design the website around a deeply embedded design system. That meant building a digital twin in Figma, with a full component library that was mirrored in Storybook, so design and development shared a single source of truth.

Bringing together the Figma design system with the development of the components meant pages could be composed from a shared component library rather than built bespoke each time, a best practice approach to a site of this scale and complexity.

Chambers and Partners now runs on a single design and development system spanning 300,000+ pages, with Figma and Storybook mirroring each other so design and engineering stay in lock-step as the site continues to grow. While a headless CMS gives Chambers' team the workflows to manage a vast, ever-evolving dataset without waiting on bespoke development for every change.
